In 2009, the Consortium Caceres 2016 presented the second edition of the International Festival of “The Electronic Creation", which, once again, transformed the city of Caceres into a stage of the international forefront of electronic arts.

San Jorge Square in Caceres housed a unique event that avoids the common sites of techno and sees the concept of electronic creation as an artistic manifestation of the present moment, in a unique space full of ancient history.

Following the line of the artistic discourse of the edition in 2008, the artistic programme of the second edition concentrated on the audiovisual proposals that examine the versatile nature of the electronic culture defined by its inclination towards change, new ideas and experimentation.

The event had an open and rigorous character that could be seen in the realization of two distinct and clearly distinguished theme lines.

Thus, the opening day (July 23) was installed on the edges of the IDM and enabled the meeting of the historical Michael Reinboth, one of the flagships of the record label Warp Records, with Macroeconomics, the solo project of the Extremanian, Carlos Babiano Espinosa (a member of the groups Fractal Heroes, and Economis Architextures), accompanied by VJ Warpig´s RGB warfare.

The second day (July 24) explored the possibilities that digital tools offer to the human voice. The duo AGF / Delay - a clash of the titans: the German vocalist, producer, and poet, Antye Greie, with the Finnish electronic musician, Sasu Ripatti, also known as Vladislav Delay, Luomo or Uusitalo, presented for the first time on a Spanish stage their recent album, "Symptoms" (published by Bpitch Control this year in March). Then the British Ben Mono played live the "Listening Tree", an album released by Planet Mu and Warp on April 6 which disassociates itself from the noise and the drill'n'bass for a kind of electro-pop.

This cultural bet of the city for the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2016 extended its programme with new activities with a participatory and educative character.

On Saturday night July 25, the group DJ Gamjah! Presented MEETING | REUNION of a free, live battle, a live performance, a vibrant gathering of mobile artists, inventing a new way of presenting and displaying the audiovisual performance. In San Jorge Square, an audiovisual ring was created in which the registered VJ artists faced each other in an interaction, created and performed for over three hours.

A free workshop of Audiovisual Creation and VJ Culture was given by DJ Gamjah! throughout the week as an educative complement to the season. These last two activities were open to free participation.

To close the second edition of the festival on its final day, the Espacio de Arte y Acción “Belle-Artes” hosted an audiovisual installation by the group Submania that transformed the space with light sculptures using the art technique of Maping.
